Owen Smith MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, responding to the Department of Work and Pensions publication “Universal Credit at Work” said:
“With these Tories, every silver lining has a large cloud full of heavy rain and those families on Universal Credit are facing a downpour
“Over the next five years, nearly £10 billion of in-work support is being taken away, meaning parents in full-time work could lose up to £2,400 next year.
“Labour will fight to protect the income of workers across the country, including the 2.6 million families set to lose an average of £1,600 a year under Universal Credit.”
